About Crow Kitchen

Meet the FOUNDER & baker

The Crow kitchen is an artisan bakery based in Crowborough, founded by Mary Ann who left the glittering word of fashion to indulge her passion for baking.

Mary Ann was originally drawn to macarons for their dainty looks but was disappointed with the usual offerings which often looked the part but didn’t deliver in the taste and texture department – they were all too often dry and boringly sweet.

“I was originally drawn to macarons for the challenge of perfecting them – they are such a challenge to bake well! I spent weeks working on how they look, taste and feel. I would make macarons for friends and family, one day someone asked where I had bought them from and when they found out, they asked why I wasn’t selling them”.

And so that’s how The Crow Kitchen was born.

“Why Crows?, Well it sounded a lot better than ‘Mary’s Macarons’ and we are based in Crowborough!”

“We only make macarons and this focus allows us to create a product which, we think, is superior to other mass produced macarons. Ours are lovingly handmade in small batches using the finest quality ingredients. I hate the word ‘nice’. If I do something, I want it to be perfect! When people eat my macarons I want a reaction – I’d rather people didn’t like it that say its just OK.”

We are extremely proud of what we do and hope you will enjoy your Crow Kitchen macaron. We have exciting macarons with seasonal influences throughout the year, and we’ll be appearing at the best food fairs in Kent and Sussex very soon so please follow our adventure on Facebook and Instagram – we can’t wait to see you!
